We’re proud to announce that Barfoot & Thompson has partnered with the Halberg Foundation, supporting their important work in ensuring young people with physical disabilities can experience the joy of sport and recreation.

As part of this new partnership, we’ll be bringing our expertise and community spirit to the live and silent auctions at the ISPS HANDA Halberg Awards, helping to raise vital funds for Halberg’s mission.

About the Halberg Awards

The ISPS HANDA Halberg Awards are New Zealand’s premier celebration of sporting excellence and inspiration. Now in their 63rd year, the Awards recognise the nation’s top athletes, teams, coaches, and those making an impact in disability sport. This year’s event will take place at Spark Arena, Auckland on Monday, 16 February 2026.

Why this partnership matters

Halberg Foundation Chief Executive, Tom Smith, says the partnership is a natural fit:

“The ISPS HANDA Halberg Awards are about celebrating sporting excellence and inspiration, while also raising funds that make a real difference in the lives of young Kiwis with physical disabilities. Having Barfoot & Thompson’s support for the auction not only adds expertise and excitement to the night, but also helps us carry forward Sir Murray Halberg’s vision of inclusion in sport.”

Our Managing Director, Peter Thompson, shares the same passion:

“Sport has the power to inspire, to connect us, and to change lives. We’ve always believed in giving back to the communities we live and work in, and the Halberg Foundation’s work is something close to what we are all about. Every young person deserves the chance to feel the joy, confidence and sense of belonging that sport brings. We’re honoured to play a role in supporting Halberg’s vision, and are committed to helping ensure these opportunities are there for every Kiwi kid, no matter the challenges they face.”

Looking ahead

This partnership reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting communities across New Zealand. We’re excited to play our part in making the Halberg Awards a memorable celebration and, more importantly, in helping the Halberg Foundation continue their inspiring work.
